AFTERGLOW
1999, as imagined in 1986. A memory dealer, a stolen prototype, and a girl living in the dashboard.
Port Avalon runs on rain, neon and other people's memories. Vic Calloway sells them for a living, until a delivery goes wrong and leaves him with a cracked chip and a stolen car. He plugs the chip in, and LYRA wakes up in the dashboard: a mind cut into seven shards and sold across a broken continent.
Every shard you bring back gives her a memory, and gives the car a new ability.
He rebuilt her piece by piece. Then he had to stop her.
AFTERGLOW is an arcade combat racer in the spirit of Lotus Esprit Turbo Challenge 2, Black Viper and OutRun: a hand-pixelled pseudo-3D road, ramps and jumps, forks, weather, armed rivals and bosses, and a story told in 80s-OVA comic panels.
